Das Common-Rail-Druckbegrenzungsventil (PRV) ist eine wichtige Sicherheitsschutzkomponente in Diesel-Hochdruck-Common-Rail-Kraftstoffsystemen. Es wird typischerweise am Ende des Common Rail installiert und soll den maximalen Systemdruck begrenzen. Wenn der Common-Rail-Druck den voreingestellten Sicherheitsschwellenwert überschreitet, öffnet sich das PRV automatisch und gibt überschüssigen Hochdruckkraftstoff zurück an den Niederdruckkreis, wodurch Schäden an der Common-Rail, den Einspritzdüsen und den Hochdruck-Kraftstoffleitungen durch Überdruck verhindert werden.
